How it all began…
“I saw his back as he walked into the cafe where we were to meet. I immediately knew from the way he walked that we would click.”
— Roina
“She was the perfect combination of ocean-loving mermaid and forest nymph, that I’d been searching for.”
— Patrick
Roina and Patrick
—
Roina and Patrick met at the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. 18 months later they were engaged, best friends, true loves, and the best partners in life. After two years, they’d moved in together, bought an apartment and decided to make it official.
Now that they’re hitched they thought they would let you in on their journey toward finding love!
A bit of history.
Patrick and Roina grew up not far from one another in the Western suburbs of Perth, Western Australia although Roina had spent her early childhood in the remote north-west Pilbara and Patrick was born in the United Kingdom.
They both loved the ocean, and they also loved riding horses, both attending Broadacres Riding School in Forrestfield at about the same time. They both experienced Perth’s glorious long Indian summers and holidays that involved travelling long distances in hot cars over dusty roads. At times they even seemed to sport the same bowl haircut.
They both had similar private school backgrounds that they both disdained and upon leaving both embarked on a quest to discover the world around them in their late teens and early twenties, sometimes in destructive ways. They even shared a friend at different times - John Butler.
Roina had a baby Oska, at just 21 and welcomed a spirited little boy into her world. Patrick took off around Australia in search of his own spirit and spent some time discovering his own ‘Heart of Darkness’.
Today, they both work in occupations that are aimed at helping the socially disadvantaged and fostering community development. Together they are a wonderful team.
It was truly a love that was meant to be (even if it did take them quite awhile to find one another).
